Robby's Lobby #84

BlogDecember, 2012Inrock.co.jp

Heyheyhey INROCK. . . .and welcome to The Lobby, I appreciate you all stopping by for a visit each and every month and as always I've got a ton to write about, ハI've been busy with a whole bunchハof things over the last month asハGoo Goo Dolls continue preparing for the release of our 10th studio album.

Here in the US we're all paying very close attention to the debates between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney leading up to the upcoming Presidential Elections. The elections are in a few weeks and each side is allowed to buy advertising time on TV, Newspaper and Radio supporting their candidate or just criticizing their opponents. You see, In the US the citizens vote for the President, (unlike in Japan where the Diet elects the Prime Minister) so their commercials are running day and night on every television channel and every radio station they feel voters might be paying attention to. It's really pretty crazy. But it's very important for people to vote in these elections because the 2 parties, with very different ideas, have nearly equal support in the US and every vote counts. General Elections are on Nov. 6thハand next time we talk we'll be able to talk about the winner.

The GGDs have been busy in the studio as I mentioned, we did a week of recording sessions with producer Greg Wells (Katie Perry, Adele, All American Rejects) at his studio in Los Angeles last week, working on a new song for the new album, and we also have scheduled more sessions this week and next in NYC with producer Gregg Wattenberg (Train, OAR) to cut the last of the basic tracks remaining for the new CD. We're planning a release in early 2012 and touring shortly thereafter.

We were asked to play a show at the grand opening of The Hard Rock Resort in Cancun, Mexico this month as well, it was a ton of fun aside from a super, super bad case of sunburn I got while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico! The evening before our concert featured a set by rapper Flo-Rida right on the beach after sunset, there were crowds of people there invited by the Hard Rock to celebrate having a great time at this all inclusive resort on the Mayan Riviera!ハ We did a ceremonial ''Guitar Smash'' with a bunch of Mexican musical artists (sort of like launching a new boat by smashing a bottle of champagne on the bow) and after a Red Carpet walk full of press and photographers and a 45 minute set by a band of contest winners from the Hard Rock Cafe national Battle of the Bands, GGDs took the stage and had a great set with a crowded beach full of Cancun vacationers!

Next month takes GGDs to Hawaii for a private gig on the Big Island and then I'm taking a personal trip to Japan to visit family and get some nice Japanese food and culture into my system! We always have some awesome adventures when I make my way to Japan, and Iユm always excited to share them with you once we're done!
OK, until next month, thanks for stopping in to check in on me, and come on over to RobbysLobby.com to catch up on some of the other stuff going through my social media outlets. All the best to you and talk soon!

Peace

Robby
