Music Monday: week 4 - Great news! The '90s are back! Well, sort of. My summer concert schedule is filled with artists that packed the charts in the 1990s. So I figured now was as good of time as any to recommend 19 of my favorite albums from the '90s. So without further adieu here are my picks (in no specific order).

Goo Goo Dolls - A Boy Named Goo

Release date: March 14, 1995

Recommended tracks: Long Way Down, Naked, Name

Did you really think a Music Examiner from Buffalo wouldn't give some hometown love? I'm actually a big fan of the Goos -- have been since I picked up A Boy Named Goo at age 10. The band recorded the album at BearTracks Studios, Suffern, NY and Trackmaster Studios, Buffalo, NY. It was the Goo's last album with drummer George Tutuska. The album reached #27 on the Billboard charts and spawned four successful singles -- Long Way Down, Naked, Only One, and Name. At the time of A Boy Name Goo's release Target and Wal-mart refused to sell the CD because of the cover of the album could be misinterpreted as pedophilic. The Goo's are currently working on their new album -- occasionally back in Buffalo where it all started.
