The Goo Goo Dolls headlined a SOLD OUT show presented by 104.3 MY FM and The Warner Sound at the Troubadour last night and they played some old songs and some new ones to an enthusiastic crowd. The energy plus the skill of John Rzeznik (guitar, vocals), Robby Takac (bass, vocals) and Mike Malinin (drums) was undeniably electric. The Goo Goo Dolls have been playing together a long time and have sold over ten million albums worldwide – and their experience made for a fantastic performance in an intimate and infamous venue.

This performance kicked off a summer tour and the June 11th release of the Goo Goo Dolls new album titled, “Magnetic”. During the performance they played the single, “Rebel Beat” which is already playing on local radio stations and the song was met with as much pump fisting enthusiasm as “Iris” and “Better Days”. It has been said that timing is everything and the release of “Magnetic” coupled with live performances by the band is just right. After talking to some of the fans, they were ready for some fresh new sounds from the band and the new songs I heard last night certainly deliver. If the songs play well live, I can only imagine the studio version will do well on the airwaves, too.

The Goo Goo Dolls gave a wonderful performance and they were excited to be at the Troubadour, as well. It’s such a relief to see so much humility and care that a band of the Goo Goo Dolls stature communicates to their fans. The guys put on a great show and if they’re in your neighborhood, get tickets to see them.

The debut single from Magnetic, entitled “Rebel Beat” is currently #23 and climbing at Hot AC Radio.
