Goo Goo Dolls Team With Tonic For MP3.com; Will Sing For Jerry's Kids
News • September 2, 1999 • MTV.com
Music, technology, and Jerry Lewis... you name it, the Goo Goo Dolls will play it.
The continuously touring trio will kick off the next leg of its two-year-old road trip on October 5 with Tonic, which recently scored a hit with its single off the "American Pie" soundtrack, "You Wanted More."
Like Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos before them, the Goos will be headlining an MP3.com "Music and Technology" tour. On this go-round, however, a second stage will be set up outside each venue to showcase MP3.com's various local artists, and on-site technology booths and downloadable music displays will be on hand as well.
If you can't wait until the kick-off, you can catch the trio now with Sugar Ray and Fastball... or you can tune in to the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon this coming Labor Day.
The Goos will be performing their current single "Black Balloon" on the telethon via satellite from VH1's "Big Backyard Barbecue" on September 6 between 4 and 4:30 p.m. (ET) Later that day, the event's "barbecue sweepstakes" winner (and 100 of his or her friends) will be treated to a backyard barbecue and a live performance from the band that will air at 7 p.m. (ET) on the network.
