A couple of big name bands will rock the Azalea Festival. Organizers announced today the Goo Goo Dolls and Collective Soul will play Trask Coliseum Thursday, April 8. Earlier this month they said country stars Montgomery Gentry will play the Friday night concert.

There's plenty of entertainment for kids, too, including Fancy Nancy and Curious George. Entertainment has been scheduled for the Variety Show at the Street Fair's Main Stage.

The Street Fair will also feature the Contemporary Christian Stage on Sunday, April 11 at the Federal Building on Water Street. It will open an act to be announced. At 2 p.m The Chris Sligh Tour will kick off with comedian The Brother Preacher, followed by independent artist Andrew Witt, Satellites and Sirens and then the headliner former American Idol contestant Chris Sligh.

Still no word on who will serve as the Azalea Festival Queen, but organizers have already announced Carolina Beach native and Fort Hood hero Kim Munley will serve as the grand marshall for the parade on Saturday, April 10, which will be broadcast live on WWAY, your official Azalea Festival station.
