Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul to play Azalea Festival

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Goo Goo Dolls and Collective Soul will round out the concerts offered this year at the Azalea Festival.

Organizers updated the public Friday on plans for the event. The two groups will pair up for a concert on April 8th. Tickets will run you $45.

The Goo Goo Dolls have several popular songs, including "Name," "Iris," and "Slide." Collective Soul broke out in the early 1990's with the #1 hit "Shine" and have followed it with other hit songs.

County music group Montgomery Gentry has a concert Friday night, April 9th.

Tickets are available at the Azalea Festival office or its website.

On Sunday, there will be a street fair in Wilmington with a concert featuring comedian "The Brother Preacher", artist Andrew Witt, group Satellites and Sirens and former American Idol contestant Chris Sligh. The concert takes place at the Federal Building on Water Street.

Organizers also announced that there will be a circus April 8th through the 11th, with ticket prices ranging from $15 to $25.

For the children, literary children's character Fancy Nancy (played by local actress Ashley Ochs) and Curious George will make appearances during the festival.

There will also be a variety show on Sunday, April 11th at the main state at Market and 2nd Streets. It will run from 12 to 6.
